Ham and Petersham SOS
Ham and Petersham SOS is a charity that helps local older and disabled residents with transport and other simple everyday tasks. We have a part time paid co-ordinator, Sam Payne, a board of Trustees and 60 volunteers who are all local residents. Our volunteers are friendly local people who come with references and relevant training.

Our services are free of charge although we do welcome a £2.00 donation for a round transport trip and a lifetime membership fee of £5.00 upon registration.  We are partly funded by Richmond Parish Lands Charity, Richmond Council and Richmond and Twickenham Primary Care Trust, but we rely upon donations to help with the short fall for our office and transport costs.

Our services include:

  • Car transport to local hospitals, GP surgeries, dentists and hairdressers as well as driving people to meet friends or go to social clubs.

  • A weekly door to door shopping bus to Sainsbury's every Thursday morning.  (Working in partnership with RaKAT - Richmond and Kingston Accessible Transport)

  • List shops for those who are less mobile.

  • We organise and manage monthly outings for local residents aged 60 and over working in partnership with RaKAT and the PCT (See Events Diary Tab for an up to date listing)

  • Prescription collections
  • We are in the process of setting up a visit and chat scheme.

If you would like to join our friendly organisation and start using our services then please contact Sam at the office on 020 8948 1090.  If you live locally and would like to become a volunteer then please see our Volunteer page.
